The Kawartha Lakes Classic Cycling Tour returns to Kawartha Lakes in Southern Ontario on August 29th for its 23rd year. This event spans a diverse range of routes through the picturesque landscapes surrounding Lake Scugog and beyond, offering distances from 50km to 160km over road and gravel terrains. Race morning sees participants gather at Oakwood Lion’s Mariposa Community Hall in Oakwood, ON, where they can enjoy complimentary lunch from Boston Pizza - Lindsay. The atmosphere is one of camaraderie and preparation as cyclists gear up for the challenges ahead on a mix of paved roads and trails that showcase Kawartha Lakes' natural beauty. Since its inception 23 years ago, this cycling tour has become an integral part of the community's fabric. Over 170 riders participated last year alone, raising more than $44,000 for A Place Called Home - a shelter in Lindsay providing hope and housing to those experiencing homelessness. Each kilometre ridden contributes directly towards supporting local needs. The event features various routes suitable for all skill levels: the 20km road route, the Road 50mi (80.4km), the 160km mixed terrain challenge, among others. All distances are crafted by members of the Kawartha Cycling Club to ensure maximum enjoyment and safety. Participants can look forward to fully supported routes with refreshment-stocked rest stops and motorcycle support for rider safety. Fundraising incentives celebrate your impact! Those who raise or donate $150 will earn a lightweight, long-sleeve shirt, and every dollar goes directly to A Place Called Home in Kawartha Lakes.
Registration for the event can be done at https://raceroster.com/events/2026/113628/kawartha-lakes-classic-cycling-tour. The fee is $85.00 per person, with deadlines to ensure timely processing. Bibs will be available for pickup on race day from 7am at the Oakwood Lion’s Mariposa Community Hall in Oakwood, ON. The weather forecast predicts temperatures ranging between 15°C and 24°C with an average of 19.7°C on race day, mild enough for comfortable riding but keep jackets handy as the wind can be around 10.6 km/h.
