Lakeland Paws: Whinlatter Tails

Welcome back to the fifth season of our beloved series, featuring nine exciting events across diverse terrains. Each race begins at 9am with individual starts for runners and their canine companions, ensuring safe and spacious conditions as dogs embark on this challenging journey.
The centerpiece event is a trek up Seat How, offering two distinct course options tailored to various skill levels. The longer route spans an 8K loop (approximately 5 miles) with 360 meters of elevation gain, culminating at the summit before descending along forest roads and trails back to the visitor center. This option provides runners with a breathtaking ascent up Seat How's rugged terrain, showcasing narrow paths and steep inclines that require focused navigation.
For those seeking a more manageable challenge or newcomers to the series, we offer an alternative 5K route (about 3 miles) featuring 240 meters of elevation gain. This shorter course circumvents the summit climb but still offers scenic trails through Whinlatter Forest and joins up with the second half of the longer loop.
Due to ongoing forest maintenance during this season, there is a possibility that we may need to modify our original Seat How route at short notice. However, rest assured that an equally captivating course based around Whinlatter will be available as a fallback option should any changes become necessary.
All participants can expect chip timing and clear marking along the routes, ensuring accurate results and smooth navigation throughout their run. Additionally, GPX files are provided for those who wish to plan ahead or enhance their training experience with detailed route information.
