Leitzaran Divide

Leitzaran Divide is an adventurous trail that winds through the water divide of the Leitzaran river, an area that remains largely untouched despite its proximity to San Sebastián. Starting from Otieta (Andoain), at the entrance of the Leitzaran valley, this challenging route spans 90 kilometers and climbs a cumulative elevation gain of 3000 meters.
The course follows the border between Gipuzkoa and Nafarroa, serving as both a natural bridge connecting these two regions and an unbroken chain of peaks, hills, and saddles. This rugged terrain presents technical challenges that test participants' physical endurance and navigation skills in an environment where self-sufficiency is key.
Running under the self-sufficiency category, each participant must manage their own resources and navigate independently through a landscape that offers no concessions to ease or comfort. The event provides an authentic mountain experience at the heart of Basque valleys, immersing runners in a wild yet intimately connected natural setting.
