Since its inception in 1991, "The Gendarmes and the Thieves of Time" has been deeply rooted in collaboration between law enforcement and community supporters. Initially organized by the National Gendarmerie until 2006, the race underwent a rebranding from “Foulées de la Gendarmerie” to its current title "Les Gendarmes et les Voleurs de Temps" in the year 2000. Since then, an association dedicated specifically to this event has taken over the organization while maintaining strong ties with the Gendarmerie. The National Gendarmerie continues to play a pivotal role as a key partner, providing support from various units such as the Departmental Gendarmerie Group of Haute-Vienne and the Mobile Gendarmerie IV/2 group. The event also benefits from assistance provided by cadets at the Tulle Military School, the diffusion service within the Gendarmerie, and the multimedia production center in Limoges. This collaborative effort ensures that participants are immersed not only in a challenging race but also in an environment rich with camaraderie and community spirit. The race course winds through picturesque landscapes of Haute-Vienne, offering runners stunning views and a unique blend of terrain. As part of this annual tradition, the event celebrates both athleticism and public service, fostering connections between local communities and law enforcement agencies. Participants can look forward to an engaging experience that goes beyond running, embracing the spirit of teamwork and community support that defines "The Gendarmes and the Thieves of Time."
