Three routes—31 miles, 50 miles, and a challenging 66-mile trek—are available for runners seeking diverse landscapes. Navigate through lightly traveled paved roads that wind through picturesque countryside, offering rolling hills, expansive farmland, lush pastures, and wooded hillsides. The courses are meticulously marked to ensure ease of navigation, making the journey both scenic and safe. On race day, find well-stocked SAG vehicles every 10-15 miles along each route. Mechanical support is provided by Cycle Works, TREK Lawrence, and Sunflower Outdoor & Bike Shop, ensuring that any issues can be swiftly resolved. For those who need it, safety support from Kansas City-area HAM Radio Operators will also be available. For families looking to join in the fun, a free 3-mile roundtrip ride awaits on the paved Lawrence Loop Trail, starting from Broken Arrow and ending at Baker Wetlands Nature Center. Experienced leaders accompany participants throughout this family-friendly adventure. Treats, including Pirates Booty, await riders upon completion of their journey. Don't forget to sign up as an LBC member before registering for the race to enjoy exclusive benefits such as $10 discounts on annual rides like The Lizard, Octoginta, and Chicken Creek events; 10% off merchandise at local bike shops; eight weekly organized rides tailored to all skill levels; a members-only appreciation dinner; and supplemental accident medical insurance. Race day logistics include early packet pickup from Saturday, July 11th, between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm at Trek Bicycle Lawrence located at 2525 Iowa St. Day-of packet pick-up is available starting at 5:30 am at the Broken Arrow Shelter. The start and finish line are conveniently situated in the Broken Arrow Park Shelter House, accessible via Louisiana St., Lawrence, KS. Participants can commence their journey anytime between 6:00 am to 8:00 am, with a course closing time of 2:00 pm. Post-race relaxation is assured as you cool down with ice-cold towels and refreshing treats like gelato, sorbetto, melons, and soft drinks. The LBC will publish the routes for The Lizard Under the Skillet event approximately one week before race day. Digital files can be downloaded once they become available.
