The McNabs Half Marathon returns to McNabs Island on July 4th, 2026, in Nova Scotia, Canada. The McNabs Half Marathon has been part of the community since its first run in 2025, growing from a single event to now offering three distances: the full half marathon at 21K, double loop at 14K, and single loop at 7K. This race supports Halifax Search & Rescue as well as local Friends of McNabs Island through donations.
Course venue is marked by stone walls of Fort McNabs, leading runners to the iconic lighthouse before ending near the beach with stunning views. Jet Boat shuttle services are provided from both Halifax and Dartmouth waterfronts at discounted rates for participants. The trail layout offers a mix of terrain suitable for varied skill levels, ensuring an inclusive experience.
Start times will be staggered based on age group and distance to maintain social distancing guidelines. Participants can expect slight elevation changes with some sections providing natural aid stations along the way where they are encouraged to bring their own drinking containers as part of our leave no trace approach. Onsite medical support by Halifax Search & Rescue Medical teams ensures safety during the race.

Registration for the McNabs Half Marathon can be done via https://raceroster.com/events/2026/122485/mcnabs-half-marathon by June 28th, 2026. A registration fee of CA$62.26 is required for the half marathon distance. Bib pickup will take place at McNabs Island Community Centre from July 1st to July 3rd between 9am and 5pm.
The start location is on McNabs Island, with specific directions provided in your confirmation email post-registration. Please bring valid photo ID if you are under 18 years old or do not have a race bib. First-timers should ensure they arrive at least an hour before their designated start time to allow for check-in and any last-minute instructions.
