The Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend returns for its sixteenth year, offering runners an unforgettable three-day experience across East Grinstead, Haywards Heath, and Burgess Hill. This unique Bank Holiday weekend event invites participants of all levels to explore the scenic landscapes of West Sussex. Starting in East Grinstead on Saturday, May 1st with a challenging 10-mile race through rolling hills and picturesque countryside, runners are greeted by stunning views and an enthusiastic local community. The following day, Sunday, May 2nd, moves to Haywards Heath for another invigorating 10-mile course that showcases the area's historical charm. Finally, on Monday, May 3rd, the weekend concludes in Burgess Hill with a dynamic 10k race through bustling streets and serene parks. For those up for an extra challenge, completing all three races over consecutive days adds up to a full marathon distance. Participants can also opt for shorter distances or combine events as per their preference. Each day features additional highlights such as the Mid Sussex Mile—a timed event open to anyone aged seven years and older—and the family-friendly Mid Sussex Fun Run designed specifically for younger participants. Route maps, including detailed GPX files, are available online for those who wish to plan ahead or explore on their own before race day. The virtual marathon option allows runners from around the world to participate remotely by submitting proof of completion between April 17th and May 3rd. The event's vibrant atmosphere is complemented by enthusiastic volunteer support throughout each course, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved. Participants will receive bespoke medals upon finishing their respective races or virtual challenges, with additional awards available for the Mile and Fun Run categories as well as trophies for top finishers in various age groups. In addition to competitive elements, there is also an emphasis on fun and inclusivity, especially through fancy dress options during both the main events and the family-friendly runs. The weekend concludes with a sense of camaraderie among runners who have shared this unique experience together over three days.
