RJAH Sarcoma Virtual 5k

In July 2026, the Tumour Team from Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry will host a virtual fundraising event to raise awareness for sarcoma, a rare cancer that often goes undetected until it is advanced. The weekend of July 25th and 26th offers participants an opportunity to contribute towards vital research aimed at improving treatments and outcomes for those affected by this challenging disease.
Participants can choose their own route or location within the two-day window and complete a 5K run, walk, or roll (wheelchair accessible). The event is designed to accommodate various abilities and ages; last year saw swimmers and young children on scooters join in. All participants will receive a T-shirt, race number, and a treat upon registration.
The entry fee for adults is £16 while children pay just £6. A unique element of this fundraising effort includes the chance to win a week’s holiday at one of Thornley Leisure Parks’ 10 stunning locations across Wales, Cheshire, and Yorkshire by participating in a spot prize draw open to all entrants.
Additionally, there's an exciting decorate-the-race-number competition where participants can upload their creative designs to the event's Facebook page for extra recognition. The Facebook platform also serves as a hub for sharing updates on prizes and fun moments during the event.
To further engage community support, individuals are encouraged to set up JustGiving pages or donate directly through the Montgomery Units’ fundraising page, ensuring that all contributions go straight to Sarcoma UK. This event is made possible by generous support from Thornley Leisure Parks, covering race costs and allowing 100% of the funds raised to be directed towards research and awareness. As always, entrants are reminded to compete safely within their own limits.
