MindOverMoors - Twin Falls 50k

About the Event

The Twin Falls 50K is an exhilarating winter ultra-marathon through Yorkshire’s North York Moors, designed for runners seeking dramatic scenery and challenging terrain. The race begins at Goathland Village Hall before venturing onto the rugged moorlands.
As participants climb from Goathland to the North York Moors, they are rewarded with panoramic views of rolling hills and the coastline beyond. Descending into Falling Foss Woodland, runners encounter one of Yorkshire’s most breathtaking waterfalls, a moment that captures both awe and tranquility amidst nature's beauty.
The route then transitions onto sections of the Mulgrave Way, weaving through ancient woodland and passing by the atmospheric ruins of Mulgrave Castle. This historic setting provides an intriguing backdrop to the race, blending natural splendor with human history.
Continuing inland, runners ascend towards stunning vistas that encompass both coastlines and moorland expanses before descending into Beck Hole Valley. Here, they pass Mallyan Spout Waterfall, another iconic landmark on this scenic course.
The final leg of the Twin Falls 50K retraces parts of previous sections to return to Goathland for a memorable finish line celebration. The race is meticulously planned with winter conditions in mind, utilizing sheltered woodland trails and valleys that protect runners from harsh weather while still offering spectacular views.
With two stunning waterfalls, castle ruins, ancient woodlands, dramatic moorland landscapes, and coastal vistas, this 50km journey offers a unique blend of challenge and beauty. Runners can expect an unforgettable experience as they traverse the North York Moors in winter conditions.
Registration for the Twin Falls 50K opens at Goathland Village Hall from 6:30 to 7:45 AM on race day, with the start time set for 8:00 AM sharp. The event is insured by ARC and offers participants the option of purchasing XCover insurance in case they cannot attend due to unforeseen circumstances.
In the unlikely event that severe weather conditions necessitate cancellation (including snow, ice, flooding or other safety concerns), entrants will be offered a free transfer to a future event up to the value of their original entry fee. No cash refunds are available at this stage.
The race organizers ensure runners' safety and satisfaction with careful planning and support services along the route.

Scenic view of

Whitby is a picturesque town on the coast of North Yorkshire. It was the home of Captain Cook, but is more famous as the place where Bram Stoker's Dracula landed in England. It had a population of 12,600 in 2021. On fine summer weekends it's thronged with visitors, and on moonlit nights during the Goth Festivals it hosts an imponderable number of the Undead.
