Naseby 1645

About the Event

Spring into History with the Naseby 1645!
As runners gear up for their spring marathon season, the Naseby 1645 offers an ideal training ground. This unique race covers 16.45 miles through picturesque Northamptonshire countryside, taking in seven memorials and viewpoints dedicated to the Battle of Naseby from 1645 along the way.
The event is meticulously planned for a February start, allowing participants ample time to build their endurance before tackling full marathons later in the year. With an undulating course that boasts a total ascent of 289 meters and numerous road closures ensuring runner safety, this race presents both a challenge and a scenic journey through rural England.
Registration opens at Naseby Village Hall on February 10th from 7:00 AM for those aiming to start the race promptly at 9:00 AM. The village hall will also serve as the finish line and provide a bag drop area for small, labeled items. Given that parking is limited in Naseby itself, participants are encouraged to use the free shuttle bus service from Market Harborough, which departs every fifteen minutes starting from 7:20 AM until 8:05 AM.
Water stations will be strategically placed along the route at approximately three-mile intervals, ensuring runners stay hydrated throughout their journey. Upon crossing the finish line, participants can look forward to a specially commissioned Naseby 1645 medal and the chance to claim one of the top male or female trophies for those who secure first, second, or third place.
A unique aspect of this event is its commitment to capturing memorable moments via free digital race photos. These pictures will be made available on Race Harborough’s Facebook page shortly after the race concludes, providing a lasting memento from your run through history and scenic countryside.
This year's proceeds benefit The Bruce Green Foundation, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of young people in Northamptonshire facing social inequalities due to limited access to education, healthcare, and mental health support. Your participation not only enhances your training but also contributes positively to a worthy cause.
For further updates on this event or other Race Harborough races, follow their Facebook page for real-time information and community engagement.
This race is open to runners aged 18 years and older as of the day of the event, with entries closing seven days prior. With its blend of historical significance, scenic beauty, and challenging terrain, the Naseby 1645 offers a unique experience that stands out among other training races in the region.
