North Berwick Law Race

The North Berwick Law Race is an exhilarating 5.3 km hill race that takes runners on a challenging climb to the summit of the iconic volcanic North Berwick Law, before descending back to the bustling harbour at North Berwick. This Scottish event offers participants a unique blend of scenic coastal views and rugged terrain.
Registration for the race opens at 6:30 PM at the Yacht Club located in North Berwick Harbour. All runners are required to be present by 7:20 PM to attend the pre-race briefing led by Jeremy Milne from NB Runners, ensuring everyone is prepared for the evening's challenge.
The race itself starts promptly at 7:30 PM and offers a mix of steep inclines and winding paths. The ascent reaches an elevation gain of 187 meters as runners tackle the volcanic hill with its distinctive silhouette against the twilight sky. As participants make their way back down to the harbour, they are greeted by the vibrant atmosphere and support from spectators along the route.
Entry fees for adults are £10, while under-18s pay just £5 (minimum age 14). The race is not only about reaching the finish line but also celebrating individual achievements with a range of prize categories. These include first-place awards in both male and female divisions, as well as top honors within specific age groups starting from 40 years old in ten-year increments.
Local residents can vie for additional recognition through dedicated EH39 postcode prizes, while young athletes under the age of 18 also have their own category to compete in. Each participant is eligible for only one prize across all categories.
After crossing the finish line, runners are invited to unwind with a complimentary non-alcoholic beer from Jump Ship Brewing and indulge in an ice cream treat provided by North Berwick Fry, located near Quality Street. The Yacht Club Bar will also be open throughout the evening, offering refreshments for those looking to socialize or simply relax after their efforts.
