On August 8, 2026, Oettingen’s vibrant “SUMMER IN THE CITY” festival will host the annual Oettinger City Run. Organized by TSV Oettingen's running club and triathlon division, this event offers a fun-filled day for runners of all ages. The race kicks off with an approximately 800-meter children's run designed for kids born in or after 2018. This non-timed event encourages young participants to enjoy the festive atmosphere and get their first taste of running on Oettingen’s charming streets. For a small fee, parents can sign up their little ones at the festival booth or online through the Oettinger Summer Program (https://oettingen.feripro.de/). Each child who completes the run receives a medal and refreshments. For slightly older runners born in 2013 or later, there's an approximately 1.4-kilometer youth race with official timing. This event is also free for those registered through the Oettinger Summer Program but carries a nominal fee on the day of the event if registering late. Medals and refreshments are awarded to all participants in this category as well. The main attraction, however, is the approximately 7-kilometer run/walk open to runners born after 2012. The route winds through Oettingen's historic inner city with mostly flat terrain over asphalt and cobblestone streets, ensuring a smooth but engaging experience for all participants. Electronic timing systems will record each runner’s performance. Participants can pick up their race materials at the Marktplatz starting from 3:30 PM on event day or earlier if they have pre-registered. Late registrations are possible between 3:30 and 4:30 PM, with a small fee for those who sign up on-site. The finish line celebration takes place in Oettingen's bustling Marktplatz where the top three male and female runners receive special prizes while all participants enjoy their moment of glory. Refreshments are available throughout the event to keep everyone hydrated and energized. For race day, there will be clear signage along the route indicating kilometer markers. Participants can also find changing rooms and showers at Dreifachturnhalle (school), which is clearly marked for easy access. This family-friendly event not only celebrates athletic achievement but also fosters community spirit among Oettingen residents of all ages. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just starting out, the Oettinger City Run offers something special for everyone involved in this lively summer tradition. Participants interested in joining should visit https://my.raceresult.com/355094/registration to register online by August 2nd, 2026. The race is open to all runners who are sufficiently trained and healthy; there’s no need for a club affiliation.
