On July 19, 2026, the East Essex Triathlon Club will host its 26th annual Osborne's Grays Triathlon. This popular sprint triathlon welcomes both seasoned athletes and newcomers alike with its welcoming atmosphere and well-organized race day experience. The swim leg takes place in a controlled pool environment at Blackshots Park, covering a distance of 400 meters (12 lengths). Participants then transition to the bike course around Grays and Orsett, which is relatively flat and covers 20 kilometers. Cyclists must wear helmets for safety during this portion. After completing the cycling segment, athletes will tackle a scenic run through Blackshots Park on grass trails that are mostly flat but feature one small hill at each lap's start. The total running distance is five kilometers. This year’s event offers additional options: an Aquathlon (swim and run without biking) or an Aquabike (bike and swim with no run). These variations cater to athletes who want a shorter challenge or prefer not to include the full triathlon elements. The race attracts competitors from across the Eastern region, including those returning for personal bests and newcomers looking for their first taste of multisport racing. All marshals are experienced triathletes or family members dedicated to providing support throughout the event. Their encouragement and friendly demeanor make this a welcoming environment for all participants. Entry fees range from £50 for the full sprint triathlon, down to £45 for Aquathlon and Aquabike options. Early bird discounts apply if you register by January 31, 2026 (reduced rates of £45 and £40 respectively). Registration opens at approximately 6am on race day with the first athlete starting promptly at 7am. Following the completion of all races, a brief trophy presentation will be held where provisional results are announced. Trophies can also be mailed to those unable to attend the ceremony in person. Final results and any adjustments based on potential challenges or disputes will be published online within seven days post-race. The event is open to adult and youth competitors aged 15 years and older as of December 31, 2026. Participants must select their appropriate gender category according to British Triathlon's transgender policy guidelines effective January 1, 2023. For any changes in personal details or swim times before the deadline on July 5, 2026, please log into your Entry Central account if you have one, or contact grays@east-essex-tri-club.co.uk directly. Withdrawals are accepted up to two weeks prior to race day with a £5 administrative fee deducted from refunds. Join us for an unforgettable multisport experience at Osborne's Grays Triathlon!
