Ridley Round

THE RIDLEY ROUND, presented by The Compasses in Littley Green and managed by Essex Trail Events, offers runners an enchanting journey through the heart of rural Essex. This self-navigated trail race is approximately half marathon length (around 21 kilometers) and takes participants on a scenic route that includes sections of the historic Essex Way and Chelmer Valley.
The Ridley Round features staggered start times between 10:00 AM and 11:30 AM, allowing runners to choose their preferred time slot. Each participant will receive detailed written instructions at Race HQ, located outside The Compasses pub under a gazebo tent, eliminating the need for markings or marshals along the course.
Running through picturesque landscapes dotted with former Ridley's pubs, this race offers more than just physical challenge; it’s an opportunity to immerse oneself in local history and culture. Participants will navigate winding paths and enjoy breathtaking views of the countryside while enjoying a mix of terrain that includes rolling hills and flat stretches.
Entry fees are £8 for affiliated runners (including a 50p booking fee) and £10 for non-affiliated entrants (£2 UK Athletics levy included, with £1.50 going to charity). Each participant also receives a £2 voucher redeemable at The Compasses pub on race day.
All proceeds from the Ridley Round go directly to supporting local youth through the Braintree Youth Project Charity. It's important for runners to note that there are no refunds or transfers once registration is complete, and dogs are not permitted during this UK Athletics-sanctioned event (TRA Permit 8557).
Race results will be published on Essex Trail Events' website following the competition.
For those wishing to run alongside friends, multiple entries under a single name can be made. However, all participants must provide their own emergency contact information and agree to adhere to race terms and conditions before the registration deadline.
