Oxford Greenbelt Runs

About the Event

Runners of all ages and abilities are invited to experience the beauty of the Oxfordshire countryside at the upcoming Oxford Greenbelt Runs on Saturday, September 26, 2026. This beloved trio of races returns after its successful run last year.
The event offers three options: a challenging 10k race for those aged sixteen and above, a family-friendly 3k option suitable for runners twelve years old and up, and a fun-filled 1k dash open to all ages. Early Bird Entry is available until August 31st with discounted rates of £15 for the 10k (£20 thereafter) and £8 for the 3k (£10 after August).
The races will take place at Harcourt Hill, located in Oxford OX2 9AT – home to the popular Harcourt Hill Parkrun. Free parking is provided on site, making it convenient for participants and spectators alike.
For those up for a challenge, the 10k route winds through picturesque off-road trails and undulating terrain, incorporating parts of the historic Oxford Greenbelt Way. This scenic course offers stunning views across open countryside to the iconic dreaming spires of Oxford. Participants can expect an exhilarating experience as they tackle high points along the way.
The 3k race follows a shorter but equally engaging path that includes sections from both the start and finish areas of the longer 10k route, providing runners with a taste of its scenic beauty without the full distance commitment.
Meanwhile, the 1k fun run is designed to be accessible for all ages. Participants will circle around the main Harcourt Hill field in an easygoing atmosphere that encourages family participation and enjoyment.
The event organizers emphasize sustainability by eliminating plastic cups or bottles this year; instead, water stations are set up at both the start line and halfway through the 10k course where runners can refill their own reusable containers. Spectators will also have access to a pop-up café offering homemade refreshments and drinks from race headquarters.
All participants receive a finisher's medal as part of their entry fee, with prizes awarded to male and female winners in each category. The Oxford Greenbelt Runs are organized by the 4th Oxford Scout Group, a registered charity (No. 267799), ensuring that your participation directly supports local scouting initiatives.
Bringing together runners from various backgrounds, this event promises an unforgettable day out with its combination of scenic routes and community spirit.
No dogs are allowed during the races but well-behaved pets on a leash can join their owners at spectator areas to cheer them on.
Join us for what is sure to be another memorable edition of the Oxford Greenbelt Runs!

About Oxford

Scenic view of

Oxford is the oldest university city in the United Kingdom, some 50 miles (80 km) to the west of the capital London in its own county of Oxfordshire, on the rivers Thames and Cherwell. Together with Cambridge, Oxford has long represented the English academic establishment and elite ("Oxbridge"), a haven of tradition and endeavour. Oxford's famous "Dreaming Spires" refer to the medieval churches and colleges that dominate the bustling modern town in all their Gothic splendour. Picturesque architecture and a vibrant modern life, driven by students, light industry and technology, all set in the rolling countryside of Oxfordshire, make this a great destination.
