Set against the scenic backdrop of Penticton, British Columbia, the 8.2K Trail Race is part of the esteemed Interior Running Association's trail series. This race promises runners an immersive experience through natural terrain and challenging trails. Registration for this event closes at 6 PM on Saturday, October 3rd, with no day-of-race sign-ups available. Participants should head to Carmi Recreational Trails in Penticton, where the start and finish line are located. The trailhead is easily accessible from Main Street; simply turn east onto Carmi Avenue for approximately 6.8 kilometers before making a right at Beaverdell Road. You'll find the race site shortly after passing the cattleguard crossing, marked by a dirt parking lot near the gravel pit. The course itself features a mix of rugged single-track trails and gentle dirt roads, offering both scenic beauty and physical challenge. Runners should come prepared to carry their own water as there are no official stations along the route. Porta-potties will be available at the start line for pre-race preparation. Post-race festivities include refreshments, awards, and draw prizes for all participants. Medical support is also on-site throughout the event to ensure safety. The entry fee is $30 for the 8.2K race and $10 for the accompanying 3K fun run; BC Athletic members receive a discount of $5. Race numbers will be available only at the pre-race pickup, starting at 8:30 AM on October 4th. Please ensure you register using your legal name to comply with liability insurance requirements. Sponsors contributing to this event include Jack Kelly Coffee, Penticton Pro Physio Clinic, New Balance, and 'The Starting Block', all of whom help make the race possible while enhancing the runner experience. About Penticton
Learn more about the host city, Penticton.
Penticton is a beautiful spot in the south Okanagan nestled between two lakes: The 155 km-long (95 mi) Okanagan Lake to the north, and the smaller Skaha Lake to the south. Tourism in Penticton is largely seasonal. In the summer, tourists double Penticton's population to 60,000. In the winter things used to be very quiet, but now that World Cup Freestyle Skiing stops at local Apex Mountain every winter, the winter scene is picking up.
