Join Phoenix Running Cambridgeshire for an enchanting day of running and celebration at Thorpe Meadows, located near Peterborough. This unique event offers participants a choice between two medals while also marking Kelly's birthday with cake and treats shared among runners.
The course winds through the picturesque park around Thorpe Meadows, featuring scenic views along the river Nene and several sculptures surrounding the rowing lake. The lap concludes in a serene wooded trail, creating an idyllic setting for all who participate.
Runners can choose their distance from 5km to ultra-marathon lengths by completing multiple laps of the 3.28-mile (5.3km) loop course within a six-hour time limit. This flexible format allows participants to test their limits and enjoy the beautiful surroundings at their own pace, whether you're aiming for one lap or pushing yourself further.
Registration opens at 7:30 AM with start times ranging from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM within a one-hour window. The course features a mix of tarmac paths, grassy sections, and woodland trails, offering approximately eight meters of elevation gain throughout the lap, primarily flat terrain except for a short but steep incline around mile 2.3.
Participants are encouraged to come as they are without needing to pre-determine their distance goals – simply enjoy each lap and decide on your next move based on how you feel in the moment. This event is designed with flexibility in mind, ensuring no one has to wait long or rush due to rigid start times.
