Punk Panther Dales Dazzler

About the Event

Nestled within the picturesque Yorkshire Dales, the Skipton Trail Race invites runners of all levels for an unforgettable adventure. Starting from the charming market town known as "Sheep Town" – its name derived from ancient northern dialects and documented in the Doomsday Book – this event offers a diverse range of distances: 13 miles, 20 miles, 34 miles, and 50 miles.
The route begins by heading west towards Pinhaw Beacon where it meets the Pennine Way. From there, runners traverse through Thornton in Craven before continuing along the Pennine Way to Gargrave and Malham Tarn. The course then twists eastward via Arncliffe, joining the Dales Way at Starbotton. Runners will enjoy scenic vistas as they journey on through Kettlewell, Grassington, Burnsall, and Barden Bridge.
The terrain varies from rolling hills to rugged trails, offering a challenging yet rewarding experience with significant climbs: 1500 feet for the shorter distances up to an impressive 7600 feet for those tackling the full 50 miles. Each distance is designed to cater to different levels of endurance and skill, providing both novices and seasoned runners opportunities to test their limits.
Registration takes place at Champions Church in Carleton Road, Skipton, where participants must ensure they arrive within designated time slots: from 6:30 AM for the ultramarathon and 7:15 AM for the half marathon and trail race. All entrants receive detailed route descriptions via email a week before the event, ensuring everyone is well-prepared.
Safety measures are paramount at Skipton Trail Race; all ultra runners will be supplied with trackers while those on shorter distances can hire them for £15. Trackers not only help in navigation but also serve as emergency devices should any runner need assistance during the race.
The route features several checkpoints providing essential supplies such as water, energy bars, and vegan/gluten-free snacks to cater to all dietary needs. Drop bags are available exclusively for 50-mile runners at CP3 near Malham Tarn.
Upon completion of their journey, every finisher will receive a medal and an event t-shirt (with the option to opt out). The race concludes back in Skipton where hot food options like cheese toasties and bean chilli await alongside warm beverages.
Join this unique adventure through Yorkshire's stunning landscapes and immerse yourself in its rich history and natural beauty.
