The Punk Panther Series concludes with its final and most intimate race, designed for runners of all levels who wish to experience the scenic trails around Otley, Ilkely, and Guiseley. This trail run offers distances ranging from 13 miles (half marathon) up to a challenging ultramarathon at 35 miles.
The route winds through picturesque countryside with hills that provide both stunning views and a test of endurance. Key landmarks include the Surprise View on Otley Chevin, the iconic Cow and Calf Rocks in Ilkely, and Lindley Wood Reservoir, offering runners breathtaking scenery throughout their journey.
Registration takes place at The Bridge United Reform Church from 06:30 to 08:15 AM, with staggered start times for each distance. Participants are advised to arrive within their designated registration window to avoid delays. For the ultramarathon and trail race distances, runners can hire a tracker during entry or receive one at no additional cost if entering the ultramarathon.
Safety is paramount; all participants must carry essential kit as outlined in the event guidelines. Random checks will be conducted on course to ensure compliance with safety regulations. The route includes various checkpoints where water, energy bars, and snacks are available for refueling.
The race starts from Station Top Otley at 07:30 AM (ultramarathon), 08:00 AM (20-mile trail race), and 08:30 AM (half marathon). Each checkpoint is open during specific hours to ensure runners can collect supplies efficiently. The finish line awaits all participants back at the Bridge United Reform Church, where homemade hot food and drinks are provided.
With a maximum of 200 entrants, this event promises an intimate racing experience with ample opportunities for camaraderie among fellow trail enthusiasts.
