RABY CASTLE TRAIL RUNS 2026

Raby Castle Trail Running Event 2026 invites runners to explore the breathtaking grounds of Raby Castle, nestled in Staindrop near Darlington. This enchanting venue offers miles of picturesque trails and an abundance of wildlife, including herds of roaming deer.
In 2026, participants can choose from three challenging routes: a scenic 5km loop for those looking to enjoy the beauty at a leisurely pace; a more demanding 10km course that showcases even more of the estate’s diverse terrain; and a half marathon distance that will test runners over 200 acres of rolling hills, woodlands, and open fields.
The castle itself is an elegant backdrop for any run. As you approach through the parkland, the medieval towers appear and disappear among the trees, creating a magical atmosphere. The route features firm paths, winding woodland trails, grassy sections, and gentle slopes that cater to runners of all levels.
Raby Castle’s 200 acres provide an ideal setting for trail running with its ornamental lakes, dense woodlands, and expansive open spaces. Along the way, you might catch glimpses of red and fallow deer, adding a unique element to your run.
The event is designed to be inclusive, welcoming both first-time trail runners and seasoned athletes alike. Each distance offers stunning scenery at every turn, making for an unforgettable experience.
Cani-Cross enthusiasts are welcome too; one controlled dog per runner will be permitted on the course.
Start times are expected around 10:00am, with final details confirmed closer to the event date. All participants will benefit from live chip-timing provided by Timing Up North, ensuring accurate and timely results.
Upon crossing the finish line, runners can look forward to receiving a medal, exclusive Wild Deer merchandise, refreshments, and an option to purchase a bespoke Event T-Shirt for £14.
