On Sunday, September 28th, 2025, runners are invited to experience the enchanting Salisbury Racecourse for the sixth edition of The Race on the Chase. Situated just three miles from Salisbury's city center, this picturesque venue offers ample parking and convenient amenities like permanent restrooms and hot showers. The event has built a strong reputation among runners for its captivating trails, stunning vistas, and warm atmosphere. This year’s marathon course will feature improvements that enhance the already beloved 10k and half-marathon routes. All distances traverse undulating downland terrain, following ancient tracks known as droves due to their historical significance in livestock transportation. The race courses wind through Martin Down Nature Reserve, grassy field margins, shady woodland paths, and rolling hills dotted with Bronze Age burial mounds and Iron Age earthworks such as Bockerley Dike. The marathon course ascends a total of 625 meters vertically, the half-marathon climbs 329 meters, while the 10k route rises to an elevation gain of 133 meters. For those unfamiliar with the area, this trail running paradise is steeped in history and natural beauty. Runners will pass through charming villages or traverse vast stretches of unspoiled countryside, offering breathtaking views of rolling fields and dense woodlands. The race name pays homage to Cranborne Chase, King John's favored hunting ground, while nearby Rockbourne boasts remnants of a Roman villa. Sign-in and number collection begin at 7:45 AM, with start times scheduled as follows: - Marathon: 9:00 AM - Half-Marathon: 9:30 AM - 10K: 10:00 AM Every finisher will receive a beautifully crafted medal, and the top three male and female runners in each event will be awarded trophies. This race promises an unforgettable experience for all participants, blending historical intrigue with natural beauty. Don't miss your chance to explore this rich landscape through running on September 28th!
