Join Aviation Action for Run the Runways: A Challenge for Suicide Awareness, an inspiring event that has been raising crucial funds and awareness since 2020. This year, participants have the opportunity to take part in both virtual challenges and a live race at Humberside Airport on September 5th. The virtual challenge invites runners from across the UK and beyond to cover the length of different airport runways each day throughout September. The journey begins with Inverness Airport's northern runway and progresses through iconic locations such as Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol, Gloucestershire, London Gatwick, Heathrow, Southend, Belfast, and culminates at Frankfurt on September 30th. Each participant will traverse nearly 69 kilometers of tarmac during the month-long challenge. Since its inception in 2020, Run the Runways has raised over £100,000 for mental health support within the aviation industry. These funds have been instrumental in delivering training and establishing a confidential peer support network tailored specifically to professionals working in aviation environments. Every penny donated contributes directly towards initiatives that ensure no one faces their darkest moments alone. The live race on September 5th offers an exciting opportunity to experience the flat, fast runway at Humberside Airport from 18:00 onwards. Participants are requested to arrive by 18:45 for a safety briefing before the official start time of 19:00 sharp. No latecomers will be admitted. On September 10th, during World Suicide Prevention Day, participants are encouraged to run with someone in mind who might benefit from increased awareness and support within their aviation community. This poignant day serves as a reminder that each step taken is part of something far greater than the physical challenge itself. Entry fees for both virtual and live events vary based on whether you choose to include minimum sponsorship requirements, ranging from £40 up to £60 depending on your chosen package. All participants will receive a bespoke Run The Runways t-shirt as an added incentive.
