SACU New Rider Assessment Knockhill (September)

About the Event

The Scottish Auto-Cycle Union (SACU) invites aspiring road racers to participate in their New Rider Road Race Training and Assessment Day. This exclusive training session is by invitation only, ensuring that all participants are prepared for the rigors of competitive racing.
On your assigned day at Knockhill track, arrive promptly at 3:30 PM for the classroom portion of the training. Following this theoretical component, you will undergo a practical assessment on the race track to evaluate your skills and readiness. Be sure to bring along your completed New Rider Training Entry Form, which includes essential personal information such as your address, phone number, and next-of-kin details.
To ensure compliance with SACU regulations, participants must adhere strictly to specific bike requirements:
- Your motorcycle should meet the ACU Standing Regulations found on the SACU website.
- The sump plug and oil filter must be lock wired for safety.
- Coolant systems are prohibited; only water is allowed in your cooling system.
- A front brake lever protector is mandatory.
- Any glass components like headlights or indicators need to be taped securely against potential damage.
- Side and main stands should be removed from the bike entirely.
- Install a rear rain light as part of your lighting setup.
- One-piece leathers and an ACU gold-stamped helmet are required for rider protection.
All bikes will undergo inspection by SACU scrutineers before training begins. Those that meet all criteria will receive a sticker, which is necessary to participate on the track. Non-compliant motorcycles may be denied access without exception or refund.
For further details about specifications and rules, refer to the ACU Handbook available online through the SACU website. Should you have any questions regarding road race requirements, please contact the SACU Office directly for assistance.

This comprehensive training day is designed to equip new riders with essential knowledge and practical experience, ensuring a safe and successful entry into competitive road racing.
Yours in Sport,
Stella Clusker
SACU Office Manager
Please ensure all documentation is complete and your motorcycle meets the necessary standards before attending. See you at Knockhill!

Scenic view of

West Lothian is one of the 32 council areas of Scotland, bordering the City of Edinburgh council area, Scottish Borders, South Lanarkshire, North Lanarkshire and Falkirk. The modern council area was formed in 1975 when the historic county of West Lothian, also known as Linlithgowshire, was reshaped substantially as part of local government reforms; some areas that had formerly been part of Midlothian were added to a new West Lothian District within the Region of Lothian, whilst some areas in the north-west were transferred to the Falkirk District and areas in the north-east were transferred to the City of Edinburgh District. In 1996 West Lothian became a unitary authority area, using the same name and territory as in 1975.
