The SOX Trail Run is renowned as one of South Africa's premier multi-day trail running events, spanning three days across the picturesque Garden Route. Nestled within the protected grounds of the South African National Park, this race offers runners an unparalleled journey through some of the country’s most breathtaking landscapes. Day One begins with a 30-kilometer trek in the Outeniqua Mountains, where pristine single-track trails wind through lush forests and offer panoramic views of the distant ocean. The route is designed to challenge your endurance while rewarding you with stunning vistas at every turn. On Day Two, runners venture into the heart of South Africa’s indigenous forest. This 28-kilometer loop features a significant elevation gain of over 1147 meters through the Goudveld and Millwood State Forests. The terrain is varied, offering both challenging ascents and descents that test your stamina and technical skills. The event culminates on Day Three with an exhilarating coastal run along the stunning shores of Wilderness. Starting at Kleinkrantz Beach, runners traverse a spectacular beach section before heading inland through more indigenous forest to reach the finish line at Fairy Knowe Hotel. This final stretch is approximately 16 kilometers long and provides a memorable conclusion to the three-day journey. Each day offers unique challenges and scenery, making the SOX Trail Run an unforgettable adventure for trail running enthusiasts seeking a blend of natural beauty, challenging terrain, and serene landscapes in one of South Africa’s most scenic regions.

About Wilderness
Learn more about the host city, Wilderness.
Wilderness is a coastal village situated in the Western Cape province in South Africa. It is set between the Kaaimans River and the Goukama Nature Reserve in the heart of the Garden Route, bordered by the Outeniqua Mountains and swept by the Indian Ocean. Renowned for its tranquil sea, seemingly endless beaches and natural lakes and lagoons, Wilderness has become a sought-after international holiday resort. This charming paradise is a great spot for water-sport enthusiasts, but also offers a fantastic wildlife variety, particularly birds, and is the ideal location from which to enjoy rejuvenating hikes, hang-gliding, paragliding, horse-riding, or leisurely scenic drives. Wilderness is also home of many craftsmen and women in the area, whose work is for sale at the weekly and monthly craft markets. Just outside Wilderness, two breathtaking viewing points offer magnificent views of the ocean for miles – namely the 'Map of Africa Viewpoint' and 'Dolphin Point'. A photographic hotspot is the Kaaimans River Bridge, over which the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe train used to pass on its journey between George and Knysna.
