The Stockholm Open Water Race offers swimmers the perfect opportunity to test their skills and enjoy a day of friendly competition on Järlasjön, located in Nacka. Whether you choose the 1900-meter or the more challenging 3800-meter course, this event is designed for all levels of experience. Participants are invited to register ahead of time as spots are limited; however, no membership with a swimming club or license is required to join. The race takes place in a picturesque setting where swimmers can soak up the serene beauty of Järlasjön while pushing their limits. Upon arrival at Järla gårdsväg 55, Nacka (131 61), participants should head to the registration desk between 17:30 and 18:00 where they will receive their start number. Parking is available in the nearby residential area of Järla Sjö. The race briefing starts at 18:10, giving swimmers a chance to familiarize themselves with safety protocols and course details before hitting the water at 18:30. Swimmers are encouraged to warm up both on land and in the lake to prevent cramps and ensure they're ready for higher intensity. Event organizers prioritize safety by providing SUP (stand-up paddleboard) support along the race route, ensuring swimmers have a secure environment throughout their swim. It's important to note that participation is at your own risk; however, the event team aims to create an atmosphere where everyone can enjoy themselves while respecting nature and each other. For those looking for additional training or guidance in open water swimming techniques, Coach Ludde offers courses tailored specifically for this type of environment. Participants are also welcome to visit Swimshop online (https://swimshop.se) using the code "coachludde" to find gear at competitive prices before the event. About Nacka
Learn more about the host city, Nacka.
Nacka is the municipal seat of Nacka Municipality and part of Stockholm urban area in Sweden. The municipality's name harks back to a 16th-century industrial operation established by the Crown at Nacka farmstead where conditions for water mills are good. However, and somewhat confusingly, that spot is not densely populated today and the municipal seat is on land that once belonged to Järla farmstead on the other side of Lake Järla.
