Strides for Justice

Experience the serene beauty of Peoria Heights Park as you join runners and walkers on September 12th for Strides for Justice, an autumn run that intertwines scenic paths with a purposeful mission. The picturesque course meanders through the park's vibrant fall foliage, providing participants with a breathtaking journey amidst nature’s splendor.
The race kicks off at Peoria Heights Park’s main entrance on North Clinton Street at 7 AM sharp. This early start allows runners to bask in the cool morning air and fully appreciate the autumnal scenery as they navigate varied terrain, including some challenging sections and gentle ascents. The event concludes with a satisfying finish line within the park itself, where families and friends come together to celebrate each runner’s achievement.
Volunteers will be strategically positioned along the course to offer encouragement and support, ensuring that every participant feels valued throughout their journey. Weather conditions predict comfortable temperatures ranging from 15.8°C to 25.9°C with a moderate UV index of 5.0, necessitating sunscreen application for sun protection. A gentle breeze is expected, adding a slight chill but not significantly impacting performance.
Participants should prepare with appropriate footwear and attire suitable for cooler autumn weather conditions. For those seeking an easier option, the event also features an untimed 1-mile walk starting at the same time as the run, inviting participants of all abilities to join in the festivities.

Bibs can be collected from September 7th onwards at the Peoria Heights Community Center between noon and 6 PM on weekends or during weekday evenings. Identification will be required for all participants. The event is open to individuals aged 18 years or older, with no age restrictions for walk participants.
