Strides for Justice

Experience the charm of Peoria Heights Park on September 12th as you participate in the 2026 Strides for Justice, an autumn run that combines breathtaking scenery with a meaningful cause. The race course winds through the park’s picturesque paths adorned with vibrant fall foliage, offering runners a memorable journey amid nature's splendor.
The 5K route is set to begin at Peoria Heights Park's main entrance on North Clinton Street precisely at 7 AM. This early start ensures that you can enjoy the cool morning air and take in the full beauty of autumn as you traverse the varied terrain, including some challenging sections and gentle climbs. The race concludes with a rewarding finish line located within the park itself, where families and friends gather to cheer runners home.
While there are no formal aid stations along the course, volunteers will be stationed strategically throughout to offer encouragement and support. Weather conditions predict comfortable temperatures ranging from 15.8°C to 25.9°C, with a moderate UV index of 5.0 that necessitates sunscreen application for protection against sun exposure.
A gentle breeze is expected, adding a slight chill but not significantly impacting performance. Participants should prepare with appropriate footwear and attire suitable for cooler autumn weather conditions. The event also features an untimed 1-mile walk option starting at the same time as the run, allowing participants of all abilities to join in the festivities.

Bibs can be collected from September 7th onwards at the Peoria Heights Community Center between noon and 6 PM on weekends or during weekday evenings. Identification will be required for all participants. The race is open to individuals aged 18 years or older for the timed event, with no age restrictions for walk participants.
