Swim - Wyresdale Park (17/11)

About the Event

Welcome to Wyresdale Park, where nature and swimming come together for an unforgettable aquatic adventure. Nestled along Snowhill Lane near Scorton, this picturesque venue offers serene surroundings and clear waters perfect for any level of swimmer.
Upon arrival at the jetty, you'll find storage boxes if it's raining or hooks on the fence to hang your belongings securely. A friendly staff member will greet you, ensuring that all necessary instructions are provided before you dive in. Tow floats are available for borrowing here and wetsuits can be hired by prior request.
Swimming circuits of roughly 400 meters each allow participants to track their progress easily; four laps make up a mile. During the summer months, swimmers can earn badges such as "My First Swim" or "Winter Swimmer." Safety is paramount: if you encounter difficulties during your swim, simply lie on your back and raise an arm for help—safety kayakers are always nearby.
The lake's blue buoys mark shallow areas used by anglers; avoid swimming between these markers to stay safe. Wetsuits are optional but bright-colored hats are recommended for visibility in the water. Tow floats are compulsory, enhancing safety on this scenic route.
Facilities include ample parking and a cozy Applestore Café nearby where you can grab refreshments before or after your swim. Toilets are located outside behind the café with additional indoor facilities to the right of them. Changing at the venue is not possible; please arrive fully dressed for swimming or change in your vehicle.
For those traveling by car, detailed directions from both Preston and Lancaster guide visitors directly to Wyresdale Park’s gates. Bus travelers can catch Stagecoach 40 from Preston Station, which takes approximately 45 minutes before dropping you off at Cabus Gubberford Lane near the venue.
Join us on November 17, 2026, for a day of breathtaking scenery and rewarding exercise in this tranquil setting.
