Experience Tally in the Valley, a unique race nestled within the picturesque Dundas Valley Conservation Area. This year’s course will wind through the rolling hills and lush forests of this Carolinian forest, offering runners an unforgettable journey. Participants can choose from four distinct challenges: run a single 7km loop (7k), complete three loops for a total distance of 21km, or embark on the ambitious 100-mile challenge by running 23 loops. For those seeking something different, there’s "The Gong Show," an elimination-style event where runners must complete a 7km loop within one hour to avoid being eliminated. Runners will navigate through varied terrain, starting at the Trail Centre this year and finishing back here too after completing each loop. The first two kilometers are downhill on the rail trail, providing a welcome respite from earlier climbs. After exiting the rail trail, runners face small rolling hills that gradually increase in difficulty as they progress. Aid stations will be strategically placed to ensure participants have access to hydration and nutrition throughout their run. A self-serve water station will also appear at approximately the halfway point of each loop this year, offering convenience for those who need it most. The course gains about 130 meters in elevation per loop, making it a challenging yet manageable experience. Despite the hilly terrain, the race organizers promise that with proper pacing and fueling strategies, runners can conquer every segment of the trail. For the Gong Show event, participants must complete their loops within an hour to avoid elimination. The gong will sound hourly, signaling when new runners may start their next loop. This adds a layer of strategy and timing for those looking to push themselves further or simply enjoy the challenge in a different format. All runners who complete 23 loops (100 miles) earn a custom belt buckle, while all finishers receive a unique medal acknowledging their hard work. The race is not just about speed but also endurance and mental fortitude—ideal for those seeking an event that combines both physical and strategic challenges. Whether you're aiming to conquer the 100-mile distance or simply enjoy a shorter loop run through this stunning natural setting, Tally in the Valley promises a memorable experience. With its diverse terrain, scenic beauty, and unique race formats, it’s sure to be one of your favorite runs of the year.
