The Dales Dash

The Dales Dash is an invigorating trail run that winds through the breathtaking landscapes of the Peak District National Park, starting and finishing at the charming village of Great Longstone. This 6-mile race offers runners a mix of historical landmarks and stunning natural beauty as they follow the Monsal Trail.
Runners will begin their journey on the historic Monsal Trail, passing beneath its old railway tunnels that whisper tales of yesteryear before emerging onto the iconic Monsal Viaduct for panoramic views. The route then meanders through the picturesque valleys of Monsal and Cressbrook Dales, where open farmland meets dense woodland, offering a diverse terrain with both gentle trails and challenging climbs.
Participants are responsible for their own navigation as this self-guided race provides written instructions but no GPX files or marshals along the way. The race is timed at both start and finish, ensuring that every runner’s effort is recorded accurately.
The Dales Dash adheres to UK Athletics rules, providing a £2 discount on entry fees for UKA-affiliated runners who pay £5; unaffiliated runners will be charged £7. The minimum age requirement is 16 years old, with no dogs allowed during the event. Should race cancellation occur, refunds are available.
