The Fellsman Dart

The Fellsman Dart invites runners to tackle an exhilarating 30+ mile (48+ km) journey through the rugged Yorkshire Dales, starting from Redshaw and finishing at Threshfield. This challenging half-distance course offers a taste of its full sibling event, The Fellsman, but on a more manageable scale for those looking to experience the beauty and demands of this iconic race.
The route winds across remote fells and moorland, with entrants ascending over 4,200 feet in elevation. This grueling course is dotted with 13 hilltop and roadside checkpoints that provide essential support throughout the journey. Only a maximum of 100 runners are accepted each year for this exclusive event.
Navigational skills play a crucial role here; participants must be prepared to use map and compass, or alternatively, GPS devices loaded with GPX files, while carrying traditional navigation tools in case of emergencies. This is not an endeavor for the faint-hearted but offers immense satisfaction upon completion.
In its third year, The Fellsman Dart maintains the charm and uniqueness that have made The Fellsman a beloved fixture since 1962. Organized by the Keighley Scout Service Network with a team of dedicated volunteers, this event ensures top-notch support for all entrants through fully serviced checkpoints offering hot meals, beverages, transport options, accommodation, and dietary accommodations.
