The Iron Keep

About the Event

Immerse yourself in an unparalleled blend of history and high-octane competition at The Iron Keep – Medieval Trail Running Festival. This unique endurance challenge invites runners to explore the enchanting grounds around a medieval-style village, where each lap is steeped in atmosphere and adventure.
The centerpiece event, "Iron Keep," spans five hours, offering solo adventurers or teams of two (Pairs) and four (Quads) an opportunity to test their mettle. As daylight fades into nightfall, runners will navigate the illuminated pathways under torchlight, with music and cheering crowds adding a dramatic flair to every lap.
The half marathon course, known as "Knights Quest," winds through the heart of the village, passing by bustling team camps and spectators who provide continuous support. For younger participants, there's also the "Tiny Titans Kids Run" for an introduction to this exhilarating event.
At The Iron Keep, costumes are not just encouraged but celebrated. Competitors can embrace their inner medieval knight or fantasy hero with creative attire that aligns perfectly with the festival’s theme. Prizes will be awarded in various categories including best individual costume and team themes, adding a layer of fun and camaraderie to the event.
The village square serves as the central hub for all activities, featuring amenities such as aid stations styled like taverns, rest areas for teams, live announcements, music, and clear lap counting. These facilities ensure that runners are well-supported throughout their journey from dawn until dusk.
Winners of The Iron Keep will earn prestigious titles rather than traditional medals: "Iron Keep Champion" for the most laps overall, "Lord & Lady of the Keep" for solo winners, and "People’s Champion," voted by the crowd for the best costume. These accolades symbolize not just athletic prowess but also resilience and strategic thinking.
Prepare to embark on a journey where endurance meets medieval charm in an unforgettable setting. The Iron Keep is more than a race; it's an immersive experience that transforms participants into heroes of legend, ready to face challenges from sunrise to sunset.
Join us for this extraordinary event on September 5th, with pre-registration now open and entries available starting February 1st.
