The Saltmarsh Half Marathon

In 2027, runners and walkers will have the opportunity to experience the stunning coastal landscape of Essex along the Saltmarsh Coast trail pathway. The half marathon route starts at South Woodham Ferrers and winds its way through picturesque scenery alongside the River Crouch before finishing in Burnham-on-Crouch's Riverside Park.
The course is mostly off-road, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and challenging terrain that caters to runners and walkers with varying abilities. Extensive signage will guide participants throughout their journey, ensuring an easy navigation experience for all competitors. A GPX file will be made available closer to the event date should you prefer digital route guidance.
Aid stations are strategically placed along the course: at 3.5 miles there is a water station and full aid stations can be found at both 5.5 miles and 9.8 miles, providing essential hydration and energy-boosting snacks such as jelly babies, flapjacks, fruit, nuts, and products from event partners Tribe and Chia Charge. Squash and flat coke will also be available to fill your reusable cups or flasks.
To minimize waste, this race is committed to being cupless; however, reusable cups can be purchased during registration for those who wish to support the initiative. These cups must be collected on race day, ensuring that all participants contribute positively towards reducing plastic use.
The finish line awaits with a bespoke medal and goody bag designed specifically for Saltmarsh events, complemented by an official finisher t-shirt available in various sizes upon request during registration. Early booking is recommended to secure your preferred size as no guarantees can be made less than one month before the event.
Post-race amenities include a shuttle service from Riverside Park back to South Woodham Ferrers Rugby Club for those who need transportation after completing their half marathon journey. Limited spots are available, so it's advisable to book early if you anticipate needing this assistance.
Parking is accessible near both start and finish locations; however, please park responsibly in the designated areas around the finish line at Riverside Park. No parking will be allowed at South Woodham Ferrers Rugby Club except for drop-off purposes.
For added convenience, a bag-drop service operates from the race start to transport belongings directly to the finish area where they can be retrieved post-race. This ensures that all half marathon participants have access to their warm clothing and essentials upon completion of their run or walk.
