Think Big Trail Challenge invites runners to explore the scenic and historic trails of Williamsport Water Authority, where every step contributes to a meaningful cause. This annual event replaces the former Salvation Army race and honors Elliot Storms, whose legacy continues through the Think Big Pediatric Cancer Fund. The course offers two distances: a 5K loop that showcases serene forest paths and gentle inclines, culminating in a picturesque finish on the Bluebird Trail; and a longer 10K route that extends into more challenging territory with steep climbs along Pocowanache Trail. Both courses wind through rolling terrain, historic sites, and scenic vistas, providing an exhilarating mix of singletrack trails and rugged ascents. Starting from a gravel road, runners are greeted by the tranquility of Shuler Woods Rd before heading onto Shelterwood Trail for a climb up a hill and back down to Remington Road. The 5K course then leads participants across the Green Bridge and through the Aqueduct Trail into the historic Bluebird Trail at Remington Ruins. The 10K route continues past these landmarks, venturing further along Pocowanache Trail with its challenging ascent and stunning views before descending back to Remington Road. A final push over the Green Bridge brings both courses together for a shared finish line on the serene Bluebird Trail. Aid stations will be available at the Green Bridge for participants in both races, ensuring runners have support as they navigate the varied terrain. The event is not just about pushing personal limits but also fostering community and resilience through a collective effort to help families affected by pediatric cancer. Registration opens May 16th with an early bird offer: sign up on that day and receive special race swag in honor of Elliot Storms, guaranteed for the first 200 registrants. Race-day registration will be available but comes without guarantees of additional swag or reduced fees beyond $30 per participant. Join us at Think Big Trail Challenge to experience a blend of natural beauty, historical significance, and community spirit while supporting an important cause.
