Trail Blazers is an exhilarating and inclusive enduro-style competition tailored for young riders aged 8 to 16, offering them the chance to experience the thrill of mountain biking within a safe and supportive environment at Nevis Range. This morning-only race invites budding cyclists to test their skills across three distinct trails designed to challenge and inspire.
The event features an open format where participants can ride each trail multiple times over a span of 3 hours, allowing them ample opportunity to hone their abilities and improve their timing on the course. A unique aspect is that riders are equipped with timing chips which record every run from top to bottom. At the end of the race window, the fastest time recorded for each of the three trails will determine an individual's overall event score.
All participants must complete at least one lap through each trail to ensure they fully experience the diverse terrain and conditions offered by Nevis Range’s lower trails. It is crucial that riders return their timing chips upon finishing so their results can be properly documented.
Trail Blazers stands alone as a separate event, ensuring no overlap with other races such as Day and Night Enduro, giving young competitors the undivided attention they deserve in this unique setting.
Participants should prepare to face varied terrain on trails specifically chosen for their accessibility without requiring gondola access. This ensures that riders of all skill levels can enjoy the challenge and beauty of Nevis Range’s lower slopes.
