The eighth edition of the Centre Bretagne Challenge offers runners three distinct distances to choose from, each with its own unique terrain and challenges. The 21km race starts at 9:00 AM, featuring approximately 400 meters of elevation gain across a course that is predominantly off-road, winding through lush forests and along scenic trails for about 90% of the distance. Runners will encounter two aid stations to refuel during their journey. The 15km race begins at 9:45 AM, with around 300 meters of elevation gain and also includes two aid stations. This intermediate route provides a mix of individual running through beautiful woodland areas before converging back towards the finish line near La Chèze's historic etang (lake). The shortest distance, an 8km race starting at 10:00 AM with just 100 meters of elevation gain, offers a relatively flat terrain that is perfect for runners looking to explore without too much climbing. This route includes one aid station and features some rolling sections through the woods. All races begin near Etang de La Chèze, where participants can pick up their race numbers starting from September 13th at 8:00 AM. The event promises a refreshing finish line experience with views of ancient castle ruins, creating an awe-inspiring atmosphere for runners and spectators alike. The courses are designed to challenge trail runners especially, with sections that cater to the technical skills required in such terrain. Runners can expect a combination of steep climbs, gentle descents, and runnable stretches through dense forests. The 15km and 21km races merge at Saint Etienne du Gué de l'Isle where they pass through charming villages like Lié by crossing Pont de la Fosse. Aid stations are strategically placed to provide runners with hydration and nutrition along the way, including a notable stop near Moulin de La Fosse. Additionally, there's a water point located about 2 kilometers before the finish line for both longer races, ensuring that participants remain hydrated throughout their run. Adding to the excitement is live music on parts of the course, enhancing the atmosphere and providing an extra boost as runners push towards the end. Upon completion, all competitors are treated to a complimentary bottle of beer at the event's conclusion, along with opportunities to participate in raffles for additional prizes. Registration fees collected onsite include a €1 surcharge per participant, which is donated entirely to Contr'atax Association to support children suffering from Friedreich Ataxia. For those interested in staying connected throughout the race day, live results are available on TriskellChrono's website with just one click. This event not only offers thrilling races but also supports a noble cause, making it an ideal destination for runners looking to combine athletic challenge with community engagement and support for medical research.
