Race Description
TRI for Lewy is a Half Triathlon Relay designed to bring people together in support of Lewy Body Dementia awareness. Teams may consist of 2 to 12 athletes, making it easy for friends, families, co-workers, and community groups to participate together. The race is divided into four relay legs, allowing teams to decide how to split the course based on each participant's abilities, experience, and goals.
Each relay leg includes:
Swim: 0.3 miles (out-and-back). Participants who prefer not to swim may complete this leg by kayak; this option will place differently.

Bike: 14 miles (out-and-back). Electric bikes are welcome, making the course more accessible to participants of varying fitness levels, this option will place differently.

Run: 3.28 miles (out-and-back).

Together, the four relay legs equal the distance of a half triathlon: a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike ride, and 13.1-mile run.
In addition to the relay divisions, participants may choose to complete the Half Triathlon as an individual. Individual athletes will complete the same course as relay teams.
The course will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., giving teams the flexibility to complete the event at their own pace while enjoying the day together. Whether you're an experienced triathlete, a first-time participant, or simply looking for a meaningful challenge, individuals of all athletic abilities are welcome and encouraged to participate.
Why We Race
TRI for Lewy began with a deeply personal mission. Nearly five years ago, my mom was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. Since then, I have organized annual fundraisers to honor her journey, support others affected by this disease, and help advance awareness and education.
For the past four years, these fundraising efforts have been personal events. This year, I'm excited to open TRI for Lewy to the public and invite our community to join me in making an even greater impact.
While raising funds is an important goal, this event is about so much more. It is an opportunity to increase awareness of Lewy Body Dementia and all forms of dementia, encourage conversations that reduce fear and misunderstanding, and help remove the stigma that so often surrounds these diseases. Every participant, volunteer, sponsor, and donor plays a part in building a community of compassion, education, and hope.
Thank you for joining us as we race not only to cross a finish line, but also to support families, honor those living with dementia, and create a future where no one faces this journey alone.
