About the Event
This inaugural cross-provincial trail challenge starts and finishes at Shuanglong Stadium in Ziyuan County, Guilin, Guangxi on Sunday, August 30, running through the Baoding Waterfall scenic area with 49K Elite, 35K Challenge, 15K Experience, and a 3-5K family fun run. Capacity runs 1,000-1,500 runners; registration opens July 10 at 10:00. The 49K (200-350 runners, ~3,327m gain / 3,324m descent, highest point 1,824m, ITRA 3 points) starts 7:00 AM with a 14-hour cutoff; the 35K (250-350 runners, ~2,522m gain / 2,423m descent, ITRA 2 points) starts 7:00 AM with a 10-hour cutoff; the 15K (350-500 runners, ~1,778m gain/descent, ITRA 1 point) starts 7:00 AM with a 6-hour cutoff; the family fun run (200-300 runners, ~220m gain) has a 2.5-hour cutoff. Baoding Waterfall, a national 3A scenic area 12km from the county seat, centers on a nine-tier cascade, Baoding Lake, and granite waterfall beds -- the same falls Ming-dynasty travel writer Xu Xiake once described as hanging like cloth and draped like a curtain. The race pairs the waterfall's natural spectacle with Ziyuan County's national-level intangible-heritage river-lantern tradition, on a course that's 65-75% unpaved.
