Celebrating four decades of running excellence, the Umemilen race returns this year to mark its 40th anniversary. Held annually since 1986, this beloved Swedish event offers runners and their families an unforgettable day out on the scenic trails surrounding Nydala Lake.
The main attraction is a 10-kilometer run that circles around the picturesque lake, providing participants with stunning views of natural beauty as they traverse varied terrain. The race starts promptly at noon for both men's and women’s categories. For those who prefer shorter distances or wish to bring their children along, there’s also "Lilla Umemilen," a fun event designed specifically for young runners.
Registration fees vary depending on when you sign up:
- Early bird registration (before July 31): SEK 200
- Mid-season registration (by August 31): SEK 250
- Late registration (until September 6): SEK 300
- On-site registration after September 6: SEK 400
For Lilla Umemilen, the cost is:
- Early bird to September 6: SEK 60
- On-site registration thereafter: SEK 80
Participants can collect their race numbers and timing chips at Löplabbets butik from Thursday through Friday (September 10th - 11th) between 11:30 AM and 6 PM. Alternatively, they are available on the day of the event near Nydala Lake.
The course is meticulously measured to ensure accuracy for competitive runners looking to set personal bests or qualify for other events. Water stations will be conveniently placed around five kilometers into the race and at the finish line to keep participants hydrated throughout their run.
In addition to enjoying a beautiful route, runners can look forward to receiving an official Umemilen medal upon completion of either distance. Prizes are awarded to top finishers in various categories for both Lilla Umemilen and the main 10-kilometer event.
