Dive into one of America’s most formidable ultra races with UTAH 115, an epic adventure that unfolds across the high desert landscapes of southern Utah. Scheduled for May 14-16, 2027, this event offers three challenging distances—115 miles, 50 miles, and 50 kilometers—each designed to test your limits against some of the planet’s most dramatic terrain.
Kicking off in Kanab, a charming western town that seamlessly blends history with modern allure, UTAH 115 sends runners into an untamed wilderness where every step is a testament to endurance. The course winds through rugged red-rock canyons and sweeping plateaus, offering glimpses of the Grand Canyon’s frontier spirit. However, it's the deep sand dunes that truly define this journey—each footfall sinks softly as you push against shifting sands that seem intent on draining your energy.
As the days progress, runners traverse vast desert basins, climb steep canyons, and navigate rocky roads and forest trails. The 115-mile route even includes a passage through the majestic Coral Pink Sand Dunes, adding an extra layer of challenge to this already formidable course. Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for unique geological formations like mesas, buttes, and cliffs, as well as native wildlife such as big horn sheep, mule deer, and jack rabbits.
With cut-off times ranging from 13 hours (50K) to 50 hours (115 miles), UTAH 115 is not for the faint of heart. Yet, it’s this very challenge that draws runners year after year, eager to push their limits in one of America's most remote and awe-inspiring settings.
The race weekend begins with bib pickup at Kanab Elementary School on Thursday, May 13th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. On Friday morning, the UTAH 115M kicks off at dawn, followed by the shorter distances over the next two days. All participants will enjoy a range of amenities including branded race gear and drop bag services.
Kanab’s perfect May climate—average high temperatures around 78°F (26°C) with long daylight hours—creates ideal conditions for tackling these challenging courses.
