Valašské Meziříčí hosts an annual road race that caters to runners of all ages and skill levels, organized by TJ Valašské Meziříčí – athletics and cross-country running clubs alongside SVČ Domeček. The event takes place on the historic Náměstí Square in Valašské Meziříčí and along scenic routes that follow the Bečva River. The race features various categories, starting with a fun run for younger participants: SuperBaby (ages 2021 and under) and Benjamín (born between 2019-2020), both running a short distance of 200 meters. The event also includes Minižáci (2017-2018, 300m), Předžáci (2015-2016, 750m), and Žáci categories for older children (born between 2013-2014, running 1500 meters; born in 2011-2012, covering a longer distance of 4000 meters). For the more experienced runners, there are multiple age-based categories including Dorostenci and Junioři (born between 2007-2010), Muži A to D (ages ranging from under 35 up to over 60 years old) and Ženy A to C (similarly divided by age groups). Each of these categories runs a challenging distance of 8 kilometers. In addition, the event offers an exciting team relay for both mixed-gender teams as well as same-sex pairs. This unique category allows participants to race together on two consecutive laps around the course, covering a total distance of 16 kilometers. The route itself is varied and engaging, featuring paved roads, cobblestone streets, and portions along the Bečva River pathway. Participants will enjoy running through picturesque urban landscapes while experiencing the charm of Valašské Meziříčí's historic center. Race day registration opens at 10:00 AM for children who start their race early in the morning. The main event begins promptly at noon, with all adult and youth participants starting together on a staggered course layout that covers both shorter (4 kilometers) and longer distances (8 kilometers). Competitors will benefit from professional timing systems using chip technology to ensure accurate results are available throughout the day via live updates online. Water stations along the route provide essential hydration for runners, with refreshments including sports drinks and fresh fruit. Top finishers in each age category receive awards such as certificates of achievement and tangible prizes like merchandise or gift cards. Special cash rewards are reserved for the fastest male and female athletes completing either the 4 km or 8 km race distances.
