Experience the vibrant atmosphere of Round 5 of The Verge Series at Prospect Park and Floyd Bennett Field (FBF). This race series is renowned for its challenging yet scenic courses, making it an unmissable event for cyclists from all levels. Each round brings new thrills as you compete in a variety of categories including Category 2-3, Women Open, Masters 40+, Cat 4/5, and Novice races. The Verge Series connects the Kissena Cycling Club's Prospect Park and FBF events into an exciting overall competition with leader kits and prizes. For this year’s edition, timing chips will be introduced for all Prospect Park and FBF races except Category 5 to enhance accuracy in results and provide real-time updates on KOMs (King of the Mountain) and sprints. Register early online as field limits are strictly enforced, and many categories have already filled up. Riders participating in Category 2-3, Women Open, or Masters 40+ will need a timing chip to compete; Cat 4/5 participants do not require one. Timing chips can be purchased with your registration or are available for free if you’re a CRCA member or have used them previously. At the start and finish line on Prospect Park West’s 3rd Street entrance, enjoy the convenience of using fabric bibs provided for all races this year. Remember to always bring these as there will be a $15 replacement fee if lost. The race course features a 3.4-mile loop with one moderate hill and sweeping turns, offering stunning views while ensuring safety by avoiding designated jogger lanes. Competitors in Category 2-3, Women Open, and Masters 40+ can vie for impressive cash prizes worth $1,800 across General Classification (GC), King of the Mountain (KOM) sprints at the top hill, and Stifel sprint competitions. Additional awards include medals for Cat 4/5 riders. New this year is a Silver jersey awarded to the best overall 55+ master rider in the Masters series. This unique accolade recognizes the dedication of senior cyclists without additional KOM or Sprint requirements. Both GC and KOM leaders can wear their respective jerseys simultaneously, with the second-place 55+ rider stepping up if necessary. Mark your calendars for this exhilarating event as it promises to be a highlight on any cyclist’s calendar, offering not just competition but also camaraderie among fellow enthusiasts in one of New York City's most beautiful parks.

Learn more about the host city, Brooklyn.
Brooklyn, the "Borough of Homes and Churches," is one of the five boroughs of New York City. It used to be a separate city, and still feels much like one. It has about 2.5 million inhabitants. If separated from the rest of New York City, Brooklyn would be the 4th most populous American city.
