VO-Joggen is an exciting series of four cross-country running events held every Wednesday throughout September, culminating in a grand prize ceremony at the end of October. The races take place around Karstorps Sports Centre in Västervik and cover a distance of 1.5 kilometers each week. The competition features individual categories as well as school-based team competitions for both lower and middle grades. Participants can earn points towards their schools’ overall standings, with all finishers earning two points per event regardless of placement. The final school rankings will be adjusted based on the number of students in each participating school, ensuring a fair contest. Registration fees are 200 SEK (Swedish Krona) and must be paid online by Monday, August 31st. Late registrations can still occur at an increased fee of 250 SEK until 5 PM on race days. All participants will receive race numbers which should be worn during each event. The series begins with the first race on September 2nd and continues weekly through to September 23rd, starting promptly at 17:30 every Wednesday evening. Each week’s start time is slightly staggered based on age categories: - F12/P12 (born in 2014): 5:15 PM - F11/P11 (born in 2015): 5:20 PM - F10/P10 (born in 2016): 5:25 PM - F9 (girls born in 2017): 5:30 PM - P9 (boys born in 2017): 5:35 PM - F8 (girls born in 2018): 5:40 PM - P8 (boys born in 2018): 5:45 PM - F7 (girls born in 2019): 5:50 PM - P7 (boys born in 2019): 5:55 PM - F6 (girls born in 2020): 6:00 PM - P6 (boys born in 2020): 6:05 PM Race numbers can be picked up at Västerviks OK’s clubroom located on Vassbäcksvägen 2, Karstorp, from Monday to Tuesday between 4 and 7:30 PM or Wednesday before the race starts. All participants will receive a VO-Joggen medal upon completion of any event. The top three finishers in each age category win special honors while the best-performing schools in both lower and middle grades earn hiking prizes. Additional raffle prizes are also available for those who attend the prize ceremony at Sporthallen, Bökensved on Sunday, October 4th. The race series offers a unique opportunity to experience running along scenic trails near Karstorps Sports Centre under the guidance of Västerviks OK. With its focus on individual achievement and team spirit, VO-Joggen is perfect for runners aged six through twelve looking to challenge themselves in a supportive environment.
