Walk For Kidney Health 5K

About the Event

On Sunday, September 6, 2026, the Walk for Kidney Health will return to the scenic Buffalo Outer Harbor, offering participants an engaging day filled with community spirit and awareness-raising activities. The Lakeside Lawn at 825 Fuhrmann Boulevard in Buffalo, NY, serves as the central hub for this event, which aims to highlight kidney disease, honor organ donors, and support those affected by it.
The morning kicks off with a timed 5K race starting promptly at 8:00 AM. Participants will enjoy running or walking along the picturesque waterfront of Lake Erie, where they can take in stunning views while contributing to an important cause. A water station is conveniently placed on the route for runners and walkers alike, ensuring that everyone stays hydrated during their journey.
Registration for the race opens at 7:00 AM, allowing ample time for participants to pick up their packets before hitting the starting line. Those who register by August 21 will receive a complimentary event shirt in their chosen size; however, these are limited and available on a first-come-first-served basis.
Following the 5K race, there is an awards ceremony where trophies will be presented to the top male and female finishers. Additionally, age group winners will also be recognized with special gifts. The post-race celebration includes light refreshments, snacks, music, and more, providing a welcoming atmosphere for all participants.
For those interested in supporting the cause but not participating in the race, there is an option to join the 1-mile awareness walk starting at 9:30 AM. This non-timed event offers families and friends a chance to come together while raising funds and awareness about kidney health issues.
Parking is readily available along Fuhrmann Boulevard or in the newly paved parking lot near the harbor entrance, accessible via GPS coordinates of 869 Fuhrmann Boulevard, Buffalo, NY 14203. The event concludes at noon with a series of community activities designed to engage and educate attendees about kidney health.
The Walk for Kidney Health is more than just a race; it's an opportunity to come together as a community in support of those affected by kidney disease and to honor the brave individuals who have donated organs or lost loved ones due to this condition. By participating, you not only contribute to raising awareness but also help fund essential programs run by the Kidney Foundation of WNY.

About Buffalo

Scenic view of

The largest city in New York State's Niagara Frontier, Buffalo is a city full of surprises. Though Buffalo is sometimes the butt of jokes about chicken wings, its long-suffering sports teams, and the mountains of snow under which it is supposedly buried each winter, those in the know tell a different story: one of vibrant nightlife, world-class museums and cultural attractions, tight-knit neighborhoods with strong community spirit – and the sunniest summers in Northeastern United States.
