Wanda's Wonder Wander

Wanda's Wonder Wander presents runners and walkers with two scenic routes through Mid Essex, offering both 9.5-mile and 4.5-mile options for adventure seekers of varying distances. The longer course begins at intervals between 10:30 am and noon, while the shorter route starts from 11:00 to 12:15 pm. Registration opens promptly at 10:00 am and closes when the last start time is reached.
Participants will embark on their journey in small groups following a detailed written narrative for navigation. The event features an unmarshaled course with no checkpoints, encouraging self-reliance as runners and walkers explore the area's natural beauty. Walkers are advised to begin before 11:15 am if choosing the longer route.
Hosted by Mid Essex Casuals under UK Athletics rules, Wanda's Wonder Wander carries TRA permit number 8646. The event supports a worthy cause—raising funds for Senior Staffy Club Dog Rescue—and welcomes participants aged 17 and older for the long course and those 16 years or above for the short route.
Entry fees are £7 for affiliated runners, £9 for unaffiliated athletes (both including an online entry fee of 50p), with a limited number of entries available on-site at £8 and £10 respectively. Online registrants have the opportunity to make additional donations to the charity during their sign-up process.
Each participant receives a voucher worth £3, redeemable for refreshments or merchandise at The Wheatsheaf upon completion. Parking is provided in the field behind the main pub car park; however, there's no designated bag storage area, so please keep your belongings secure inside your vehicle throughout the event.
