The West Acre Wild Run invites runners to explore the lush and varied landscapes of Norfolk's countryside. This 10K race is an adventure through winding bridle paths and secluded woodland tracks, offering a mix of undulating terrain that challenges even the most seasoned off-road enthusiasts. Runners will start on a brief stretch of paved road before venturing into the heart of the event’s natural setting. The majority of the course consists of dry farm and forest trails, but be prepared for some sections that may turn muddy or wet depending on recent weather conditions. A highlight of the race is the opportunity to encounter several optional obstacles along the route, allowing participants to test their limits as they see fit. One of the most unique features of this event is crossing West Acre's historic fords just before reaching the finish line. Runners have the option to brave these crossings using a narrow walkway or opt out and use spare trainers available at the end if needed. Parking is conveniently located off Walton Road, where entrants can leave their vehicles in an area designated near The Stag pub. Registration begins early on race day from 09:00 am, giving participants ample time to prepare for their adventure. Runners with dogs are welcome and will start the race a bit earlier at 10:20 am, followed by the main event starting promptly at 10:30 am. The race both begins and ends at The Stag pub (W3W - songs.lilac.ordinary), providing a central hub for all participants. A water station is set up halfway through the course to help runners stay hydrated as they tackle the remaining miles of challenging terrain. While there's no formal bag drop service, entrants can leave personal items at Event HQ or in their vehicles nearby; however, it’s recommended that you only bring what you need for the race. Upon crossing the finish line, all participants will receive a specially designed West Acre Wild Stag medal to commemorate their achievement. Refreshments such as tea, coffee, squash, and an array of cakes are available at the end, catering to various dietary preferences. The event also features portable toilets near both Event HQ and the race start/finish area for runners' convenience. In addition to a memorable run through nature, participants have the chance to win one of ten spot prizes awarded randomly on race day or participate in an excellent raffle with proceeds going towards this year’s charity: The Purfleet Trust. The West Acre Wild Run promises not only a scenic and challenging course but also a vibrant atmosphere that celebrates both personal achievement and community spirit.
