Wrap up the year with one of the most charming trail races around, taking place on Thursday, December 31, 2026. Early registration closes on December 30, and once the maximum number of participants is reached, no further entries will be accepted. The Wisentwintertrail offers four distinct distances to cater to all levels of runners: approximately 5 km, 8.5 km, 16 km, and a challenging 23 km route. Each distance consists of one large loop that is clearly marked for easy navigation through the scenic terrain. The trail features nearly 100% unpaved paths with plenty of stairs and other elevation changes to test your endurance. Participants can expect a mix of narrow trails winding through beautiful natural landscapes, providing runners with an unforgettable experience as they make their way around each course. Although there is no on-course hydration or food service available during the race, you will find ample changing facilities and showers at the finish line, along with plenty of parking space for convenience. After crossing the finish line, enjoy a warm bowl of soup and traditional Dutch oliebollen (oil cakes) to refuel your energy. The event also features a cozy sports café where participants can gather post-race to chat about their experience over some refreshments. Registration fees vary depending on the distance: €12 for 23 km, starting at 10:00 AM; €11 for 16 km, beginning at 11:00 AM; €10 for 8.5 km, kicking off at 11:15 AM; and €9 for the shortest distance of 5 km, set to start at 11:30 AM. All distances begin at CSV Apeldoorn in Sportpark Orderbos.
