XII TRIATLÓN DE SESTAO

Set for September 6, 2026, the XII Triatlón de Sestao is an exciting race that invites triathletes to tackle its challenging course through scenic Basque country. The race starts with a refreshing swim of 750 meters in the waters off Sestao before transitioning into a spirited cycle ride covering 21 kilometers on local roads. Participants then conclude their journey with a brisk run over 5 kilometers, weaving through picturesque landscapes and finishing strong at the same location.
Registration for this event is open to individual athletes as well as club members until August 6th, with later entries accepted up to race day but at an increased cost of €40 (€35 if registered earlier) or €50 for Open category participants. A chip timing system ensures accurate tracking and competitive results.
The transition area opens at 9:15 AM on the morning of the event, providing ample time for athletes to prepare before their respective starts. Male competitors begin at 11:00 AM followed closely by female racers starting two minutes later. The supersprint category takes off shortly after at 11:18 AM.
Participants must adhere strictly to a strict cut-off schedule designed to maintain the integrity of each discipline, including a generous but firm limit of 25 minutes for swimmers and another hour and twenty minutes from start to finish. Cyclists are restricted to road bikes or gravel alternatives; mountain bikes, electric bicycles, and time trial models are not permitted.
Post-race amenities include changing facilities and secure baggage storage within the transition zone. The event organizers have set up a large parking area just 250 meters away from the starting line for ease of access on race day.
