Join us for the 18th annual Kilmaurs Gala 5k Fun Run on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. This beloved local race has evolved from its origins as an inclusive fun run to a competitive yet welcoming event that caters to runners of all abilities, with recent winners clocking in under 16 minutes. Registration is limited to the first 300 participants due to space constraints and operates on a waiting list system for those who miss out. Online entry closes on July 26th, so be sure to secure your spot early as entries are non-transferrable. On-site registration will not be available; all entrants must provide photo ID at the event. The race features electronic timing by Whats My Time, ensuring accurate results for every competitor. Kilmaurs Gala 5k adheres to UK Athletics Rules and is a Scottish Athletics Licensed Event, providing official recognition of your achievement with a finisher's medal awarded to everyone who completes the course. Morton Park in Kilmaurs serves as both the starting point and finish line, offering limited changing facilities and toilets. Registration opens at 5:00 PM for pre-registered runners, allowing ample time to collect race numbers and timing chips before the event begins. Given that registration can be busy, arriving early is recommended. The course itself offers a scenic route through Ayrshire countryside, starting with the first 1.5 kilometers within Morton Park's running track before venturing onto Kilmarnock Road and surrounding rural areas. The highest point of the race occurs at approximately 3.5 kilometers, followed by an enjoyable downhill stretch back to the finish line. For convenience, several car parks are available nearby: CoS Car Park on Kilmarnock Rd (2-minute walk), Weston Tavern Car Park on Fenwick Rd (3 minutes), Scotrail Car Park on Crofthead Rd (5 minutes), and parking opposite Kilmaurs Primary School with access to Sunnyside within the school grounds (4 minutes). On-street parking along Kilmarnock Road is also an option, just a 2-minute walk from registration. Post-race refreshments will be provided for participants. The event includes spot prizes as well as awards in various individual and team categories, including special recognition for juniors and youth runners to encourage the next generation of athletes. Please note that dogs are not permitted on this course due to safety concerns. Additionally, competitors with pushchairs or those using wheelchairs may find parts of the route challenging; therefore, these options aren't recommended. No headphones or similar devices that could impede hearing should be worn during the race for your own and others' safety. In case of unforeseen circumstances affecting health and safety, organizers reserve the right to modify, cancel, or reschedule the event with prior notice via email. Refunds will be issued at the discretion of the organizing committee based on specific conditions impacting participation.
