Irvine Sprint Triathlon (Triathlon Scotland National Sprint Distance Championships)

The Irvine Sprint Triathlon, organized by the Ayrodynamic Triathlon Club, is set to challenge athletes of all levels along Ayrshire's picturesque coastline. This event not only serves as an exciting open water sprint triathlon but also incorporates the 2026 Triathlon Scotland National Sprint Distance Championships, offering a unique opportunity for participants to vie for national championship medals in five-year age categories.
Voted Triathlon Scotland’s Event of the Year in 2024, this race is celebrated for its inclusive and supportive atmosphere. The event aims to be an inviting gateway into triathlon for beginners while providing seasoned athletes with challenging competition.
The day kicks off at Shewalton Pond with a calm and clear 750-meter swim. Participants will take part in waves divided by gender and estimated swim time, ensuring fair starts across all abilities. Kayak safety cover is provided throughout the swim to ensure participant safety.
After transitioning from T1, athletes embark on a two-loop 20km bike ride through Irvine Beach Park. The route features mostly flat terrain along Marine Drive with scenic views of Ayr Harbour. Cyclists should adhere closely to road regulations as they navigate fully open roads.
The race concludes with a traffic-free 5-kilometer run that winds through Shewalton Woods, offering runners the chance to enjoy nature and showcase their running prowess on a fast-paced course.
Upon crossing the finish line, participants can look forward to refueling at the renowned post-race buffet provided by club members. This event is not just about competition; it’s also an opportunity for athletes to socialize with fellow competitors and spectators in a relaxed setting.

Entries for the 2026 Irvine Sprint Triathlon are currently open. Both individual participants and relay teams consisting of three members who complete one discipline each can sign up now. Relay team compositions may be single or mixed gender combinations.
