Rylee's Run 5K, set for Saturday, June 12th, 2027 at 6:00pm, honors the memory of Rylee Rae Vinson, who was born prematurely on August 16, 2007. Sadly, she passed away just eight days later due to complications from premature birth. Her parents, Jason and Jessica Vinson, established this race in 2012 alongside the RIBS soccer tournament as a tribute to their daughter's short but impactful life. The event takes place at Mike Rose Soccer Complex on East Shelby Drive, offering runners a scenic route through vibrant neighborhoods of Memphis. The course map highlights a flat terrain that is both runner-friendly and conducive for achieving personal bests or simply enjoying the run with fellow participants. Participants can register by June 1st to ensure they receive their race shirt at Packet Pick Up/Race Day. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual option allows runners from anywhere around the world to join the event remotely. The post-race celebration is an integral part of Rylee's Run, featuring Venice Kitchen pasta dishes and DoubleTree Cookies for sustenance after the run. Menchie’s frozen yogurt stands ready to satisfy sweet cravings, while Prairie Farms chocolate milk offers a refreshing treat for younger runners. Registration packets can be picked up at Fleet Feet Memphis on Friday from 3:30pm to 6:30pm or on race day starting at noon before the event begins. For those who prefer comfort and style during their run, women's tech dri-fit shirts are available alongside super soft cotton options for men and unisex tech/dri-fit choices. To ensure a safe environment for all participants, cars will not be permitted to enter or exit Mike Rose Soccer Complex from 6:00pm until the race starts at 6:30pm. This precaution guarantees that runners can enjoy their experience without any distractions or hazards. Rylee's Run is more than just a race; it’s an opportunity for families and friends to come together in support of the Le Bonheur Children's Hospital Neuroscience Institute and NICU, institutions deeply connected with Rylee's family.
